Having the right leadership at Cappella of Grand Junction is an essential part of community life for residents and family members. Our leadership team partners with residents to foster a culture of possibilities and belonging, building the kind of community that residents envision for themselves and their neighbors.
The future is bright at Cappella of Grand Junction, and we look forward to continuing to grow as a community. Please join us in welcoming these two new leaders to our team!
We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah Gasaway as Cappella of Grand Junction’s Executive Director. Sarah joined the community in May 2023, bringing with her a career’s-worth of experience in social services, hospice care, and dementia programming within skilled nursing settings. Sarah became an Administrator for assisted living settings in 2020 and has served as an Executive Director ever since.
After graduating from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and International Relations, Sarah says, “I didn’t know what I wanted to do other than help others. I started out in social services and quickly found my passion working with older adults.”
Sarah is passionate about honoring and celebrating Cappella of Grand Junction residents. “I love learning something new every day from residents and families. Residents have so much life experience to share, and it’s important for it to be acknowledged, validated, and passed on,” Sarah shares.
She also looks forward to making the holidays special for the whole community. “I make it a point to show residents they are loved and appreciated,” she says. “One year, I dressed up as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve while I was 7 months pregnant, and I went room to room to deliver personalized gifts to each resident. I even had some join me as ‘Santa’s helpers’ to deliver gifts of their own to other residents. It was so much fun to see the joy and happiness it brought to our community.”
When Sarah is not at Cappella of Grand Junction, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2-year-old son. Having lived in many countries, including Venezuela, Ghana, and Egypt, she also loves to travel.
Please join us in welcoming Kristeen, who joined the Cappella of Grand Junction team as Dining Director in May 2023. Kristeen has worked in restaurant management for much of her career and most recently served as the Dietary Director for a skilled nursing community. During that time, she began her Certified Dietary Manager certification, which she expects to complete by the end of the year.
Kristeen loves to help others and ensure residents receive the best food and dining experience. She enjoys getting to know the residents during meal service and when out and about in the community.
Outside of her time creating delicious and healthful meals at Cappella, Kristeen enjoys spending time outdoors and adventuring to new places with her son and dogs.
We invite you to say hello and to the leadership team at Cappella of Grand Junction the next time you visit our community!
